We are pleased to recognize six Volunteer Accolade Award Recipients for the time and energy spent supporting nutrition programs in schools and their unwavering commitment to student well-being. 榴莲视频鈥檚 Board Action Plan (BAP) identifies multiple priorities that connect to student well-being, and creating safe, inclusive spaces where belonging, well-being and mental health are centered.聽

At Central Public School, Surekha Addanki, Megan Elliott, Alicia Konkin, Ashley Pleau and Valerie White are a group of dedicated parent volunteers who have successfully revived the school鈥檚 Breakfast Program after nearly a decade. These volunteers arrive at school early each morning to provide hot and cold breakfast items to approximately 30 students daily. Their care and warmth create a space that fosters well-being and a sense of belonging for students.鈥�

鈥淲e deeply appreciate the time and effort these volunteers invest in preparing, serving, and cleaning up breakfast daily, as well as the grocery shopping required throughout the week. Their commitment not only supports some of our most vulnerable students but also fosters positive relationships within our school community,鈥� shares Kindergarten Teacher, Leisa Rook.聽

At Edmison Heights Public School, Samantha Dennis is another volunteer who goes above and beyond to help students start their school day with a nutritious meal, a kind smile and sense of belonging. Samantha understands food safety, the nutrition policy and seeks out fundraising opportunities to ensure that the nutrition program has sufficient funds to operate each year.鈥��

聽鈥淪amantha鈥檚 passion for school nutrition programs, along with her positive and energetic approach, has built a large volunteer base that allows the program to flourish,鈥� says Principal, Rebecca Padgett.聽

鈥淗er belief in ensuring that our most vulnerable students are cared for by receiving a lunch each day is quietly and respectfully done for any student who requires this extra special touch. Samantha鈥檚 connections with staff, students and family have made her a key member of the Edmison Heights community,鈥� adds Rebecca.聽聽
